I don't agree with you.

What happens if GM ceases to exist? Hundreds of thousands of American workers would be unemployed. Just imagine the average joe in America... who would they blame??? Of course foreign companies... i.e. Toyota. Public backlash may occur. Constiuents may demand their politicians implement a foreign tax on cars. Next election, some politician will definately play off the outsourcing and foreign competition fears.

Most people do not understand the global economics. Case in point... click on the link to read a letter to the editor in today's Post-Gazette (Pittsburgh). Scroll down to the bottom of the page, its 2nd one from the bottom titled "Sick & Tired". I wonder if the writer realises a few automakers are producing their vehicles in the US: Mercedes, Honda, Toyota, Hyundai, and BMW.

Smart move by Toyota. Okuda understands that Toyota needs GM.
