If it is a criminal case, make sure the prosecutor knows that you believe in "fully informed juries." If it is a civil case, make sure you recount a bad experience you have had with an insurance company -- and everybody has had at least one!
If the system worked correctly, then neither of these things would get you disqualified. But because the system is geared to permit the parties to try to get the jury they want, courts pretend that these things are disqualifying, and you'll be excused.
And please don't tell me that I am a "bad citizen" because I suggest this course of action. If I were king then we would have juries from which it would be very hard to be excused. In order to be excused you would have to have a genuine conflict of interest. Unfortunately we are not ruled by kings. We are ruled by lawyers.
