in my '90 spg; LA to Boston and back. What a wonderful drive. Beautiful sceneries across this big country and the car kept going.
Something for future trippers to note with older car: check the rust conditions and shocks. Somewhere between NYC and Boston on the I94, one of the front shocks broke from all the potholes and cracks in the paving. Of course, I found out this when I brought it into a dealer for an oil change in Boston. There was also a slight water pump leak, but I knew this before leaving, tires are badly worn. I took my chances and drove home without fixing anything and made it without any problem, except changing the headlight bulds. Did I say I love this car?
But fixing all these problems to make it road worthy would cost substantially. And I did test drive a 9-2x Aero before the trip. Also like the 9-3SS Aero. Financially, I can go either way. It's probably the emotional tie that's hard to part. So who's been in this situation? And yes, I understand all the virtues of the new car, especially the safety ones.
