I knew this would be the best place to come for help ;-)
Ok here is the deal. I bought my first non-Wal Mart bike after reading all of the write ups on this board.
I ended up with a beautiful 2004 Giant Yukon (disc brake) hard tail MTB
I LOVE it and the bike is considered "entry level" to most of you hardcore biker types.
I just moved to Minneapolis in the last month and the trails here are AMAZING compared to Indiana. However the abundance of trails are paved greenway trails. Which is great but I ride a MTB so it is not nearly as efficient or comfortable as all these fancy road bikes that whiz past me.
This past weekend I bought my GF her first non-Wal Mart bike, a Trek 4300 that she loves.
But now I think I want to buy another bike, a road bike.
What are somethings to know. The other dillema is I really don't want to spend more than $700 that way if I prefer the hardpack limestone trails on my MTB I haven't wasted TONS of money.
I have looked at the Giant OCR3 and the Trek 1000. The bike store recommended the Trek over the Giant. But all the reviews I have read picked the Giant over the Trek. But now I am wondering if I would be better off to get a used bike like a Bianchi (sp) or a nicer Giant (i.e. OCR 1).
Any advice would be great.
Cheers
Chris
