I'm not a pilot due to lack of free time in my life.(having an expensive car hobby doesn't help either) I have taken a few lessons like yourself and have been flying with other people.
It sounds like the only major complaint about that plane is that it requires training to come out of stalls, which shouldn't be a big deal, as you'll be practicing stalls with the instructor at sufficient altitute, and if you were on your own, you'd be staying away from stall speeds during normal flight anyways by observing your airspeed during climbs.
Not for safety reasons, but for practical reasons I'd rather have a high-winged plane for a good side view for oblique aerial photography. That's another flying situation where one sometimes wants to go slow and low and should consciously avoid going slow enough to stall.
I don't have any place I need to travel to in a hurry, I just enjoy flight.
