Might I suggest Amazon, African Gray, or Severe Macaw. We have a Blue Front Amazon ourselves.
Though any parrot can be noisy, these med-sized parrots are fairly calm in nature and will typically only scream if they feel left out of the social attention. So as long as you keep the bird around you when you are home, they will be pretty quiet.
However, any of the mid-sized parrots are fairly expensive ($800-$1500) and you have to be committed to having a parrot for a long time, as they live 50-75 years.
The quieter side of the small parrots are the parakeet (or budgerigar) and the Quaker (or monk) parrot. They are not as large as the Amazon/African Gray and tyically live about 8-10 years for a parakeet and 20-25 years for a Quaker Parrot.
