They went too far in bashing Saab. That was my last issue of this paper and I'm not renewing. Any suggestion for a good car magazine?
Here's the email that helped me vent:

I've been a fervent reader for the past 8 years even though I do not approve how you manage your comparos. Allow me to tell you why I'm giving up my subscription after your latest $35K sports sedan comparo:
- Real world testing: Must be french to you...
0-60mph dropping the clutch at 5000rpm is not much of a value for a normal driver, but 50-70mph, or 70-90 is really what matters to overcome slower traffic.
Top gear acceleration results mixed between autoboxes and manuals is such a joke since the automatics shift down. The Saab 9-3 Aero outruns any manual in your comparo.
I'd be curious to know who's the winner on a wet skidpad? I'll bet you these beautiful rear wheel drive BMW and Infinity would be embarrassed by the front drive and AWD competitors.
- Partiality: Your comparo becomes a "farce" when you flat out write that the BMW did almost a 360 spin at 70mph during your braking test, so you used the data from a previous test. What about using previous data for the Saab when it had a braking malfunction?
How did the 9-3's structure become too flexi and body roll become distracting since your previous test praised its structural rigidity?
Do you think real drivers wait for the fuel cut to shift? 6400rpm was sure not the right shifting point for a turbocharged Saab, it's sabotage.
If the steam builts slowly in the Saab, why don't you flame the slower Audi and Cadillac in the same manner?
What about ownership's cost? Service loaners?
Last but not least, your $35K sports sedan results do not take in account the cost! Talk about real life stuff in your title but that's about the extent of it. The winner costs an unnegotiable $42390, the Saab and Infinity cost about $8000 less, and since Saab always benefits from GM's huge rebates, the gap is at least $10000.
I'll keep the 10G and smile when I'll leave the Infinity, Saab or Acura dealership with my next purchase.
