I was called upon to do the thing that guys need to do, take care of the spider. At least I saw it first and was spared the scream that spiders create. You can be across the house and you know exactly the situtation in an instant when you hear the wife scream. (Girls might be worse, but I have not had do deal with that.)
I had a thought that a detergent cleaner would be effective. I hit it with "Scrub Free" (pump spray) cleaner. The spider got covered in foam in an instant. It was totally dead in 2 or three seconds! Curled up and then quickly washed down the drain. Spiders can be hard to kill...
This was good as it was nasty and big! Not something that I would have the courage to go after with a tissue. This was a good solution as the cleaner is safe and rises away, not like using an insect spray.
So this is a good thing to know. I expect that many cleaners would have the same effect. Scrub free is a rather good product cleaning too!
Once I came home to find my wife killing a spider in the garage that was the diameter of a hardball baseball. Very freaky. She had sprayed it, and sprayed it, with bug killer from a large pump bottle and it took a long time to die. So I guess that the foam plus the surficant of the detergent both are key to the fast knockdown.
