I have lived in Calif. all my life. have seen all the species of arachnids. But many years ago upon moving into a new house, my boys came running up to me one evening.....very excited. They had run across a really big spider over by the tennis courts. Tugging and pulling on me, I consented to follow them over to take a look. I brought along one of those bug houses to capture it.
Well this thing was a huge....I mean mutant Argope. It's wed was like fishing line. The back was over an inch in diameter and the legs spanned almost 6". It was a freak of nature. I almost called an expert to have a look. I have never seen a spider since that has approached the size of this thing except a taranchula.We still talk about it...refer to it as Big Bob!
It was definately an X File.
