Did my first bicycle commute Wednesday

I've been wanting to bike to work for a long time but there are a few issues:
1) No showers at work
2) I work downtown and I couldn't figure out a route that would be relatively safe in terms of traffic and avoiding "bad" neighborhoods.

Eventually I figured out a route that looked OK, and decided just to ride back from work so the shower thing wasn't an issue (my wife could give my a ride in the next morning - it's not far out of her way to drop me off). So on Wednesday I gave it a try - and I loved it. It was 13 miles and took 50 minutes (takes 20 mins to drive). The last 7 miles is on a dedicated bike trail so that part was really nice - especially the part by the university where there where a lot of roller blading hot babes out on a warm fall evening ;-).

I got thrown off my proposed route at one stage when a street I assumed to be two way turned out to be one way, but I'll do better next time - which I am hoping will be Monday.

I figured I saved $3 in gas (including the car pooling the next morning) - 399 more trips and I will have paid for my 2005 Lemond Poprad!(which is a really sweet ride, by the way).
