Not as it sounds...... Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Thu, 10 Nov 2005 09:41:57 In Reply to: 2 pairs of glasses a year ???, Trev, Wed, 9 Nov 2005 15:52:02 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Not as bad as it sounds. To receive two pair of galsses per year, the employee must:
a) work at a facility which requires Safety Glasses to be worn at all times.
b) Second pair must be OSHA aproved safety glasses.
c) Vision correction prescription must change, you don't get new lenses if the prescription doesn't change - doesn't matter how old the lenses are.
d) frames can only be replaced every other year.
e) frame choices are strictly limited to the cheapest (and ugliest) things being sold, employee pays retail minus $20 for any other frame.
f) no special lens treatments are covered, i.e. scratch resistant coatings, tinting, no line bi-focals, light responsive lenses are all at employees cost.
Most employees get a new pair of glasses every 2 to 3 years. In fact, GM dropped vision coverage entirely (except for safety lenses) for a brief period approximately 15 years ago because they discovered they were paying more for the TPA (third party administrator) than they were paying for employees eyeware!
