OT:AM radio interference on telephone--

I've always had a bit of AM radio on my house's phone line, but recently is't become much more frequent, as well as much louder--to the point where the people I'm talking to can hear it, and we both get to shout.
I've called my local phone company, and they basically said--1)It's a problem with your phone, and 2)no, we aren;t going to come look at it. Then they gave me the FCCs number.
I've disconnected all the phones in the house as well as the answering machine, and the Apple Airport--and then tried each phone by itself--(an old rotary, a cheapie tone, and a bell south touch tone)--and have gotten interferrence on all of them, at all jacks.
I disconnected all my internal phone lines at the block in the basement, and connected my phone(s) directly to the block--no diffference.
I've tried Radio Shacks telephone filters--no difference.
The phone line (two strands of black insulated solid core copper) comes off the pole, runs to the house, has a thumb size black thing 'surrounding' the line outside the house, then enters the basement and runs to the block--The block looks like a 1930's Sci-Fi prop--a big white ceramic block with (fuses? Resistors?)mounted on the sides, and a mysterious black bakelite object in the center--Outside line comes in the top, and house lines connect to the bottom.
Any clues?
Thanks-
