About 3 1/2 years ago, I was laid-off from a job I had for five years. I attended job hunting seminars and utilized other helpful info (resume writing, etc.) offered free of charge by the state to people which were unemployed. The consensus from all of these sources is that the internet accounts for only 5-10% of all hires, and that the best way to find a new job is by networking (that's people networking, not the internet.) However, I did find my current job through the internet. A headhunter found my resume posted online (she didn't say from which site), and called me. I had my resume posted on just about every job site I could find. My advise (for what it's worth), is, that if your unemployed, get you resume out there any way you can. What have you got to loose? If you are employed and looking for a new job, that's another story - there's always a chance that your current employer may find your resume online.
Just my two cents worth.
Mike.
