Here is the story. A local conglomerate of Honda, Toyota, and Hyundai hired a company tkworldwide (http://www.tkworldwide.com) to find and train salespeople. Tkworldwide found me in the monster.com database. Today was a screening day to find people for a 3 day training session. The interview was weird with words and I give the first thought that comes to mind. A very easy interview, but I have not had one like this before. It is not clear if all the jobs are at the Honda dealership or if the Honda dealer just has a conference room to use and the jobs could be at other dealerships within the conglomerate. The kicker is that I have to pay the “small cost” of the training. This is reimbursed 90 days later if I am still at the dealership. Of course, he would not tell me what the cost was or I might not show up on Wednesday. I am little concerned that they won’t tell me on Wednesday either and that the entire thing might be a scam to get a fee out of me with no risk to the dealer. I also stand to lose since the dealer could offer a terrible deal after I pay for the course and the dealer risks nothing in the process.
What do you guys think? How much could this cost? Anyone have any experience with this type of setup. Is what they teach in such a course useful if you only sell cars for a very short period? I am juggling other interviews at the same time and may jump on something else that comes along.
The company included a NADA link about average car salesman salaries. I am an engineer and would like to know the median and standard deviation to get a better idea of reality. I know some make over 100K and that 45K is average in New York State. Any idea as to where I could find more data.
