I had a bout of this about four years ago. Went in for a tread mill and other tests and wore a monitor for a month. It was determined that the episodes were "benign upper chamber events" and resolved on their own. While this kind of heart activity can be stress related, my doctor thought it was asthma related in my case. He suggested also that it might be due to an infection ( viral, bacterial or fungal) which would be impossible to diagnose after the fact and by that time, the episodes had stopped.
I have a history of allergies and asthma and have gotten pulmonary infections a couple of times related to allergies - most probably leaf mold - which I guess could have reachd the heart. Since the episodes four years ago, I've had two asthma attacks and my heart went whacky both times, leveling out as the asthma calmed down.
It is true that worrying about it can make it worse... try to relax as hard, as that is. It could well resolve on it's own after the cause has run it's course - the fact that the tests didn't indicate anything supports this.
Best of luck , hope all goes well.... Jim
