I had a situation a bit more than a year ago where I had an abnormal heart rhythm for a whole day. Atrial fibrillation the doctor said. I have been an athlete my entire adult life (I am 26), I run about 70 miles a week, and so this concerned me greatly. The docs could not find any contributing factor to why I got it, which was frustrating. Since I had that episode, I have had what I called "skipped heart beats", mostly while at rest. I went back to the cardiologist, was on an event monitor for a whole two weeks. They concluded my rhythm was good, what I was feeling were early heart beats, not actually 'skipped' beats. It felt like a hollow thump in my chest, not painful, but out of sync with the regular rhythm. It feels crappy because basically the heart contracts when there is no blood in the chamber. That's what they told me anyways. They were very frequent for a while, say 4 or 5 times a day I'd feel them. That was a year ago. Now it is much less frequent. My advice to you, listen to your doc. If they say your tests come back normal, you probably have not much to worry about. This happens to more people than I think we know. I am a serious worry wort when it comes to health issues, and let me say it just doesn't help to worry. Hey, if it's your time......
