We have two friends who had this condition... At least it sounds very similar to the heart condition two neighborhood friends had to deal with for a number of years. One is male in his mid to late 50's, the other is female around 50 years old.
Both followed the drugs and relaxation techniques for years with declining success over time. Both eventually went to the Cleveland Clininc (I think) where a Cardiologist threaded a wire into a heart chamber, then cauterized areas of the heart muscle to block spurious electrical/nerve signals within the heart which was the cause of their skipped/doubled/out-of-sync heart beats.
The male friend had to go back a second time to have more areas cauterized, the female friend (who had this done a couple of years later) was fully cured with one treatment.
Both have been free of heart medications and irregular heart beat patterns since having this proceedure. I believe the guy had it done nearly 5 years ago.
No, they aren't married. They are originally from different parts of the country, but thru a coincidence they happen to live in the same neighborhood now.
So if your condition is the same as theirs, there is a permanent solution. Neither individual is overly active (though not overweight either) so I don't know if this treatment would prevent a dedicated athlete from continuing these activities.
Best of luck.
