Michael S,
Thanks for the post.I began by looking at real estate in Asheville and in having a concern for milder winters I jumped over the mountains because a wise old man told me winter weather will be milder on the western side of the mountains rather than the eastern side.I then started looking from Johnson City to Chattanooga and points east. And I was actually putting the cart before the horse because I still wasn't aware TN. has no state income tax.So that was a huge relief. My objectives are:Milder winters, slower pace of life, lower cost of living/more for my money realestate wise and just a general overall better quality of life.Chattanooga proper is a consideration as I would like to get something loft like and be able to keep my vehicles inside. The only negative I hear about Chattanooga is the air pollution problem.Any comments.Just to flip flop a little,I do slso think about a log cabin with some property and building a big garage with living space above. It would be nice to see if drivers still wave with their whole hand down there.I am planning a sping and fall trip this year to scout around.Any tips would be appreciated.Thanks.Don
