I ride a Harley (99 Super Glide Sport) I love it. I don't ride long distances mabey 150 miles one way at a time. I bought it from my good friend who sells BMW motorcycles. After having the belt drive on my bike I would have a tough time going back to shaft drive. There is no lift when hard on the gas and no side ways torque that you get on wet roads with the shaft. I think it's quieter than shaft drive also. But for miles I think it's hard to beat BMW's It's the norm to see them with 50-100k miles on them. My friend will also admit that the maintanance is also high on them. But that is why they get the miles that the do. If you drive alot of miles and long distances Go with the BMW. This just my two cents worth.
