We keep our ng900 on the street on the Upper West Side. Besides being hard on the bumpers, the real problem is not being able to do even the most routine maintenance.
I don't really love the car as much as the c900's I've owned and the clearcoat is patchy, so I don't freak out about scratches and dings. It is, however, a comfortable and reliable car, and it makes getting groceries at the Harlem Fairway a joy.
Sounds like you have a semi-classic that you love. I'd garage it, live in Manhattan, and drive it when you can; maybe you can convince your father to take it our for a walk every now and then.
A third way would be to live in Manhattan but garage the car in Queens or NJ. A friend has a MB 230Sl that he garages in QNS and drives on sunny weekends.
