Moving to NYC . . . viability of keeping C900 Posted by devin [Email] (#2469) [Profile/Gallery] (more from devin) on Tue, 7 Mar 2006 15:14:33 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hi All,
I can't believe I'm posting this, but my car is important to me. I'm about to take a job teaching college in Manhattan, and taking the Saab to the city is likely out of the question. I'm leaning towards living in Queens where I've been told I can find parking, but I think the city will be hard on the car, and it won't see much use up there regardless.
So here's my question:
I want to leave it at my dad's place in Pennsylvania, or ideally in a friend's garage. Assuming I keep the fluids changed, and make sure somone drives the car at least once a week, will the car stay healthy, and does it make sense to hold onto the car? I don't anticipate "visiting" it anymore than once a month.
The reason I'm asking is that I had a VW once that "fell apart" -- moisture issues likely-- once I bought another beater and stopped driving it regularly.
The Saab's a 92' Turbo and a 5 speed with 140K on the clock. It's as nice as any I've seen. I'm not expecting it to increase in value or anything. I just know that should I get rid of it, the odds of replacing it with one down the road that's as clean, and not a resto candidate, are slim.
thanks,
Devin
