Leaving it in gear or downshifting uses zero fuel when decelerating--until you get close to idle speed--then the injectors come back online.
Coasting with the clutch pressed to the floor makes the engine use fuel to stay running at idle speed. Idling with the clutch pressed-in wears on the pressure plate fingers and throw-out bearing so that's not good either. If you're going to idle for any period of time it's best to do it in N.
