You need to work with what you got. This is not Eden. Lock your doors and windows. Don't keep your life savings in your front lawn. Make sure you know where your kids are at all times. Put shades up around your bedroom windows. Teach your kids the golden rule and then make sure they live by it.

Take your concept of anything can be temptation, so we can't really anticipate or control other's actions. Does that mean we just tell terrorists to stay out, or do we need to patrol out borders?

Yes, I wish we lived in Utopia! I also know that jails are not built for the innocent.

This all started about a poor guy not locking his car doors and having a Radar detector stolen. This all might have been a non-issue had he just locked his door. I feel bad for him.

I am sorry for how very preachy I have gotten here. I am also amazed at how resistant people are to just using a lock and key. What ever happened to an ounce of prevention being better than a pound of cure?
