Fellow XR4Ti owner!
I bought mine (an '86) about a year ago from the second owner. He'd had it since 1988, so as far as I was concerned, he was the only owner. 263k on the clock, original everything including the automatic transmission (blah).
I will honestly say the XR is the sole car I've ever owned that I might like more than a c900. It is a little lighter, goes right where you point it, and makes about the same power (right now, anyway...). It's shorter overall and way more tossable, probably partly due to the RWD. It's main downfalls are overall quality (not as nice as a Saab), NVH (not as nice...) and really awful couch-spring suspension that is anything but sporting. Still, it's a blast to drive.
So far, I've installed a ported head, ported upper & lower intake manifolds, a ported exhaust manifold, upgraded the front brakes to 2-piston Mustang GT units, swapped the rear drums out for disks, and thrown on some 17" wheels with 215/45-17 Nokians. Soon it should be getting a 5-speed swap and a big front-mount intercooler, though I am still amassing parts for those operations.
