This is all very true. As Saab's recent biopower engine points out, you can run very high compression on knock-resistant E85 safely. That translates directly to big power, which can either make a car go quickly, or turn really tall gears.

Even though E85 may ultimately cost more and be less fuel efficient, there is some solace in the knowledge that E85 requires substantially less drilling of the earth and disruption of natural habitats. I for one feel far better about planting a mess of corn or sugar cane than sucking dinosaur oil out of the earth.
