Hi Denise: I'll try to keep this brief, but it could go on for a long time. The vet shaved a good-sized area on the dog's side and drew an 11X11 (or so) grid/matrix w/ indelible ink and into each of the cells injected an allergen. We then called the vet each day for a week or so and gave him a report on the appearance of each cell vis a vis the intensity of that skins area's reaction. (A scale from 1-10, 1 being least intense.) Most of the reactive areas were in response to exotic plants not found locally. In fact, that approach led to not much other than a large expense for the initial visit. In fact, and I'm not proud of this, the charge for the first appointment w/ and exam, etc. exceeded $1500. The return visit a few weeks later was almost $500. We had seen no improvement + are still spending $20/day on an anti-allergy med, Atopica. We have decided to go back to our original(referring)vet and try other things. If we have any luck, we'll notify the list. He (Max, ther Golden) seems to respond to store-brand Benedryl and the specialist says that Benedryl won't hurt him, even in large doses. Good luck with your dog. David
