I just found this thread today (June 15, 2006) but apparently alot of people think any dry dog food is OK but it is NOT. I am not promoting any particular brand, but you MUST be aware that the cheaper brands use stuff like ground up chicken feathers, called chicken byproducts or some other polite name, on the label, which are technically protein and can be legally counted as protein content, but are NOT DIGESTABLE for dogs. Any time you have a dog that eats plenty of food but is too thin and doesn't have worms, suspect that he's not able to absorb whatever he's eating. I do volunteer work for my local humane society and they get alot of donated food; if it's cheaper than Purina - their bottom line - they pitch it and don't feed it to the dogs because it's not digestable food.
