It's all good.... but 9-5 SportWagons are cool.... The auto is a big consideration. A 9-3 or 9-5 comes with the excellent and satisfying Aisin Warner and 2002 and up 9-5s get 5 speed autos. A 9-5 SportWagon doesn't lack for room even compared with the amazing packaging of a 9000. The 9-5 is much more modern and luxurious and has many useful touches unavailible on a 9000, and not just the high end availibilty of xenons, rain sensing wipers, auto dim interior and exterior mirrors, ultra-sonic park assist, vented seats. The 9000 seats were big and wonderful, but 9-5 sport seats and regular seats are excellent too.
IMHO a 9-5 SportWagon is also the perfected hatchback. Hatchbacks don't have; flat-flat floors, rear openings down to the bumper, hard tonneau covers that fold and slide and don't rattle, the best visibility or standard roof rails for carrying your toys.
A 9000 Aero or a Viggen may be a hot rod Saab, but a 9-5 Aero performs as well or even better with the auto.
And wadda'bout safety? A 9-5 has many more availible safety devices. Later 9-5s had improved, intelligen, dual force airbags. 9000s don't even have side airbags. ESP, standard on later 9-5s, is proving to be one of the most statistically significant safety improvements ever dramatically lowering single car accident rates.
Another 9-5 advantage, despite what you read on this problem solving BB, is 9-5 overall reliabilty, the best Saab ever according to popular consumer publications.
More power to you if you're the kind of person who can keep an older high-line car in tip top shape. 9-5s are still current so upkeep is easier. 9-5s are also availible at quite reasonable prices and those higher mileage cheaper 9-5s are proving to be very durable in the long run.
But they're all nice cars.....
