You both make some good points for the 9^5 wagon, just when I had about decided to shop for a 96-98 9000!! So Mike, in your estimation, the problems I'm reading about for the 9^5 and not the 9000, such as engine sludge, blown turbos, dead SID pixels, are a bit overblown and not that common? I do relish the thought of a more reliable automatic transmission, having had a 9000 with one before. That would be especially true if I got a 170 HP 9^5. It would more likely be upgraded, given that it's a heavier car with considerably less HP and torque than a 9000 CSE. On the other hand, one could easily buy an automatic 9000 and put plenty of money in the bank to cover future repairs, compared to the cost of a 9^5 now. Then again, if it's as you say, and the 9^5 is really more reliable, one still might come out ahead with a considerably lower mileage 9^5. Well, I'll consult my local Saab club experts later today, maybe call up my friend who owns a 9^5 and go for a drive again. I'll see what the local shop has to say about 9^5 reliability as well. Other than power and smoothness for the V6, or fuel economy for the I4, is there a reason to consider one engine over the other?
