G'day to you too!
Interesting about the variability in blinker stalk location. Must be hard for those who change cars frequently, such as when driving different cars in a company's fleet.
By side blinkers, I mean the small lights just aft of the front wheels, mounted to the side of the car. These are uncommon in the states, but I good idea, I think. However, if blinker use is rare, as it is in the states, what does it matter how your car is equipped? It's a law in the states that you use your blinkers too, but apparently that makes no difference. The stuff I see other drivers do in the states would surprise you. I never saw that kind of ridiculous stuff in Australia.
I took to using my blinkers when exiting the roundabout, as I saw others doing it, too. It makes perfect sense.
best regards.
