You might not know that the new Macs are essentially PC's with an extra chip that allows OSX to run, so you can run Windows just like any other PC with no emulation or anything. Just pick Windows or OSX when you boot up, or you can install a third party program that will let you switch between them on the fly. My wife's firm is swapping out all their Dells for Macs over the next few years - servers and everything, and they're still using windows. They found out it was actually cheaper to go that route, plus they plan to use OS X for mail, internet, etc. to add another layer of protection from viruses for their Windows network.
As far as the notebooks themselves go, they're well built, good looking, and about the weight you're talking about. So I say get a Mac and even if you never run OS X, you've still got probably the best Windows notebook out there.
