But you are OK and the car will be fine.
Shredded chunks of truck retread are a real hazard that no one pays any attention to. I had to run a slalom through some not long ago, but it was daytime, so no biggie.
Truck drivers know perfectly well when a tire goes, because they pay attention to their tires. But since an 18-wheeler can lose multiple tires and still keep rolling they aren't about to stop. Plus, depending on how it fails, the debris can be spread over several miles of road.
Just call your insurance company and put in the claim. Life's too short to get in a twist about this stuff. But it sure is a PITA.
