If you can find a clean 9000 Aero 5 speed without rust and miles under 100k, I'd suggest to get it. It really is an ass kicking freeway crusier, and does great in the twisties and stop and go too. 4 door, hatchback with a ton of rooom and more if you flip one or both rear seats down. Has all of the bells and whistles, and it really really is capable of 30mpg. I drove mine from San Diego to Sacramento to meet the guys and go to the 24hoursoflemons race a month ago. I got 25.6 on the 480 miles up there, speed *averaged* 85. I put the cruise control on for 90 miles on the way back, set for 70, got 30mph at the 90 mile mark. but was bored with being the slow guy on I-5! so cranked it back up and still managed 28mph, lead foot and all.
Basically I get a giggle out of the Mercedes commercial that touts their model with a 7 speed automatic, how it's a sporty and fast and great car. and get 25mph. I get better real world milage (computer & computed miles/gallons to fill) and spent $8k miles on a 1994. I'd look for a 96 or newer (have one a 96 too) as the ODB-II diagnostics are more complete, but otherwise the two cars are identical.
