I love to ski, but I couldn't get my wife up one of those chairlifts/gondolas even if I knocked her out first. She is afraid of the heights.
I am glad to hear about the warm weather (aside from the global climate implications). We are having an abnormally warm December and January here in Minnesota also. Normal temps here are highs in the low 20's °F (-5c or colder) with lows in single digits F (-15C). But we have consistent been near or above freezing for highs and in the twenties for lows.
Either way, Europe will likely be warmer (outside of the mountains) and hopefully less crowded than during high season.
I like your train trip through the alps idea, I will see if I can talk my wife into an excursion like that. Otherwise I think that Italy will get most of our business. Any opinions about vacationing in Greece?
