We have a small utility room that has our furnace, well pump, hot water heater and washer and dryer in it, as well as cat food bowls and cat litter trays. It has exposed cinderblock walls and I am looking for ideas to cover these. I could just paint the cinderblock but this would still leave a fairly difficult to clean rough surface. Is there anything I could put directly on the walls that would leave a smooth finish that would be durable and easy to clean?
I was thinking about putting ceramic tile directly on to the cinderblock, but that would be a lot of tiling and there are places where there are quite big irregularities that would have to be smoothed out. To drywall I would need to put on some furring strips first and while that would be doable there are lots of water pipes and electrical conduit that would get in the way.
Any ideas?
