and has a few thoughts for you.
- you are entitled to copies of the xrays as you own them
- $1k is a good price for a crown for an outside dentist
- most people are ok with visits every 6 months unless there is some form of disease that needs to be monitored. based on your information posted it would appear a form of periodontal disease is present and yes, it is not uncommon to have to visit 4 times/year. also would explain why you need "gum scraping" which is actually scaling of the teeth below the gumline, not the actual gums.
- everything else you mention seems on track for some form of gum disease, so if this is the case, sounds like your 1st opinion was on track.
it's kind of like a saab, you can't wash it every week, change the oil occasionally, never take it in or take care of service and be suprised when you are told you need a lot of work done to keep it on the road.
