If you have any doubt as to the diagnosis/recommended treatment- have another consultation with a different dentist. I had to switch dentists as my job location changed, and I had broken a small section of a molar, and was able to find two in the area whose initial consultation was 'free'. Had an x-ray of the broken tooth, was tested for gum depth and health. Both recommended crowning four upper teeth, since the fillings were huge, 35 years old, and were preventing proper flossing, one recommended office visits for gum care, the other, (the second consult) said there was time to try some different products, home-care techniques after the crowns.. to see if that had an impact before attempting any office work. I chose him. Had prep work done on two yesterday- $960 each plus $40 for nitrous oxide..Next two next week. Big bucks, so make sure you feel confident in the recommended treatment.
