Sounds like a hippy answer from my youth, but jobs are never cool. Finding and being yourself is cool. Sometimes, though, you have to try different things to make that discovery.
My son, with degrees in communications and business and 4 years with Big Insurance Company, a nice salary and a fast track to management, came home one day and said "The only part of my job I like is helping people; I'm quitting to try to go to medical school so that I can help people." Two years back in college taking science classes, three years in med school, and a very patient wife later, he's well on the road to his idea of cool.
My daughter taught, edited, traveled with a text book company, worked in book store management. At 30, she decided she hated business, loved books and people. After another trip through school, now she's a librarian, her idea of cool.
Me? I've managed restuarants, managed retail stores, been a freelance writer, been a professional photographer. Took all of those to send me back to college for a PhD in rhetoric. Now I'm a professor, spending my day with 18 year olds who are always different, always lively, always fun. I believe in them and they, in turn, believe in me. I spend most of my day helping people learn, helping people be. That is my idea of cool.
Point is, we none of us knew where would end up until we sent somewhere else first. Cool is something you discover on your own, not something you can identify in the abstract.
