When you force everthing offshore to the lowest bidder and all parties care first and foremost about the buck this is the crap you get. Even worse make it a country that mixes strong authoritarianship, general suppression, corruption, and unbridled minimally regulared capitalism and you have a recipe for disaster.
How about a recap of some recent headlines concerning products from China.
Dog food with melamine. It apparenly wasn't until AFTER the incident that China even banned the stuff from food goods.
"Well respected" brand of kid's toy trains sold by U.S company with lead paint manunfactured and unreported for a number of years. Never mind the disregard in doing this how did it go undected for so long.
Kids jewelry by a premium U.S. brand with lead manufactured over a number of years. Same question as above.
Crayons with lead (enough to nearly kill a local girl).
Cheapo toothpaste with the same toxic chemical you put in your cooling system.
Tire specs changed by the manufacture in violation of U.S legal requirements to make ever so slighty more per unit.
Then there is the labor conditions. Estimated 10,000 to 20,000 "workers" in Chine are literally slaves abducted from the streets and train stations and held against their will (particulary in brick making and related local industries". Local government officials look other way and accept bribes to ignore. "Legit" labor no picnic either.
Then there is the government. This remains a supressive government. Basically denied and suppressed information concerning SARs for as long as they could. Only releasing additional information in steps as the lies and supression collapsed. Why? This is just one example. Did same following major industrial accident. These things don't even make sense. Of course this is the same government a number of years ago that gave order to run over protestors with tanks and an overwhelming use of military force. Should we even start in on political prisioners.
Anyone given their kids a "healthy" apple juice lately from a "well respected" American juice company. Better look at the ingredient source. Concentrate from China is in a number of these products. Maybe nothing wrong with it but food from China is one thing I do NOT what to ingest. What has happened? We had to clean our plates because of the starving kids in China. Never mind that that makes no sense. What the crap we need China to feed us and our pets now? How did this happen.
I blame everyone including consumers for putting profit and cost over common sense and community.
