I know I am in the minority here, so don't bother spamming back.
However, the speed limit is 65, not 80. This country could reduce fuel consumption significantly by driving the speed limit and being more prudent about accelerating, etc. I have little sympathy for people who are inconvenienced when they try to drive 80.
I have bought Saabs for safety, utility and fuel economy. I am very happy with my 2.0t (I was sorry to see the little t go away). The performance is there if I need it to pass/merge etc; but I generally drive conservatively and average about 36.5 mpg on the SID (which is a bit optimistic; but actual calculations are still 34-35). I do, however, stay in the right lane most of the time, and will agree with you about 'cruise control passes.'
