from a shop owner several years ago. He said that an auto parts salesman demonstrated the superiority of his brand of tire plugs by punching a hole in the sidewall of one of the tires on his vehicle, then plugging it. The guy said that the tire had multiple plugs in it, and the salesman was driving it all over town that way. Maybe he was exaggerating things a bit, but the plug that shop put in my tire (tread area, not sidewall), worked fine. Like others here, I have never had a problem with a plugged tire.
