I've got a '92 900 base model that I'm beating around in for the winter, and a '99 9-3 base model as well, with the usual mods.

The 9-3 has 16" BBS 7-spokes with Kumho Ecsta SPTs on it, 205/50/16. The '92 has four cooper weathermaster st/2 snows on it that I picked up at work inexpensively. I ran them last winter on the 9-3, and it was a champ in snow, I didn't bother shovelling except for the one major storm we had with like two feet, in Feb.

Fast forward to this winter. The roads were nice and dry, my driveway had maybe three inches of hard packed snow. the '92 simply didn't care about it. I figured I'd take the 9-3 out as i was taking a 50 mile round trip on the highway, and the '92 being automatic isn't really happy on the highway lol 4000rpm.

Guess what? The 9-3 wouldn't move. At all. Nothing. Not happening. Actually, it moved about three inches, seriously, and stopped. I took the '92.

It's almost fun to drive the '92 in a snowstorm. I had a Chevy 4WD truck pass me going backwards in the oncoming lane (on a two lane road /!\ ) and stuff it ass-first into a ditch, while I was wondering what the big fuss was about. This was in a storm about two weeks ago, there was maybe three inches of unplowed snow/slush on the road. Guess who had four bald tires?

Properly prepare yourself for winter driving and quit presenting a road hazard to those of us who are properly prepared for winter driving, please. I don't worry about driving in blizzard conditions because my vehicle for the most part handles them with aplomb thanks to tires which are intended for the conditions. What I do worry about is all the others out there on their "all seasons" who are a whisker away from completely losing control of their vehicle and hitting me.
