I am cynical about many quick oil change places. I've tried to use them a few times, but they've over filled and underfilled my cars as well as overtightened or stripped oil drain plugs on my cars or those of family members. Since most people pay a business to change their oil, the stats for recycled oil should be higher. It's sad that it is not. I do my own oil, but purchase my oil from places like Advance Auto Parts because they provide a place to collect used motor oil for recycling. I can usually do an oil change faster myself when you include the time it takes to drive to the business, drop off the car, wait (this is variable if doing something else), and then drive home again. Admittedly, I have a 2 car garage and ramps which makes it easier. One other advantage to doing my own oil is I can check around for other potential problems.
