and shut off the engine at RR crossings if I can't see the end of the train. It has been a LON time since I replaced a starter, and I have never replaced a shifter. OF course I have not been using this technique more than a few years. Shifting into neutral also generates less heat, so if the AC is running, you'll probably save in more than one regard. Thanks for the data.
