I agree -- I have no problem if someone wants to be on the "bleeding edge" and drive a hybrid in order to get nearly the same fuel efficiency as a 1980 VW Rabbit Diesel. (Yeah those old diesels were crude, but new ones are infinitely more refined and at least as efficient.) Hey, go for it. In some situations hybrids might even make some kind of economic sense.

I just tire of the environmentalist crowd getting in our faces and expecting us to live our lives based on the dictates of their value system, down to what kind of blasted light bulbs we are expected to use. (The greenies lost my ear a long time ago, with their crackpot predictions for the last 40 years of which virtually none have come to pass. In many cases they are people simply using environmental hysteria in the pursuit of other goals, but this is not the place to get into that...)
