Have fun, that's the first tip. I don't know the course, but I've ridden the Death Ride nearby a few times, so I know there's a few mountain passes and some altitude in the vicinity. A beautiful area to ride.

I wouldn't do any more hard rides before the event, just some short rides to keep your legs loosened up. Personally I don't worry much about carbo loading the days before the ride. Of course you want to eat well, includng breakfast the day of the ride, but it's particularly important to eat and drink during the ride - at the rest areas and I carry some energy bars or gel to eat on the bike. You also want to drink alot, before you're thirsty (all the important if the course gets up very high).

As to the riding, I'd take it easy. I'd be sure to have low enough gears to ride the hills comfortable - you don't want to kill your legs early in the ride. Don't get caught up trying to ride with a group that's going faster than you really should be going (that's very easy to do). Take a break at the rest areas if you're tired, though I don't like to rest too long as you may stiffen up.

I know there are some challenging descents out there, don't know if the century course includes them, but if so be alert and conservative. Take your time and have fun.
