Goshen was talking about bringing Renault back to the US a year or two ago. If they are still serious about it that would be a cheap was to get distribution network set up in the US. However, with the shape the US car market is presently in, I highly doubt Renault (or Alfa Romeo) is considering coming back to the US.
Alfa was talking about making a push into the US as recently as December 2006, but I haven' read much about it since then.
With the weak dollar, acquisitions by foreign companies of domestic brands makes them extremely affordable. So I've come full circle and believe anything is possible.
