74 official complaints were filed. All were dismissed. That is not normal.

How about the chinese baseball team beaning 5 US players, sending one to the hospital with a concussion. (True, our player trounced their catcher on a play at the plate, but buzz his chin, not 4 other guys.)

How about the murder and assault of the men's vollyball coaches inlaws--small mention, then nothing more. There's been more coverage on John Edwards indiscretions than on this.

How about the imperfect performance (steps on landing) given by the chinese on the women's uneven parallel bar--won gold through "tie-breaker". Even though the US gymnast had an equally impressive performance but stuck her landing cleanly.

In spite of these unfortunate circumstances, so far this has been a truely amazing olympics. I do commend the Chinese people for creating such impressive facilities and putting on a spectacularly memorable event. How many of us sweep a little dirt under the carpet and display the fine china when company's coming? This is almost the same thing, only on a global scale.

There is nothing keeping the IOC from taking away any medals after the olympics if they descover that rules were broken--ask the disgraced Marion Jones.
