Cost per square foot?
Ability to shed a snow load?
Minimal wind resistance/lift?
Platform for solar panels?
Extra outdoor living space?
Launching point for cauldrons of boiling oil to ward off invaders?
As you plan your "to be built house", think about what you want to do with the house, and the roof that will "best" suit your house and purposes will become apparent.
In the end, I'll suggest that the existing roofs in the neighborhood probably reflect generations of experience in building roofs suitable for the characteristics of the local area, and that those roofs would be a good starting point as you design yours.
