What really amazed me is the fit/finish/materials. The Japanese have really ramped it up in the last few years. Even the BMW felt plasticy compared to the MDX and the Accords. I'm beginning to think that all of the reasons I've been buying European cars/Saabs all of these years are no longer true. They're no longer built better and they no longer have any real advantage in terms of handling feel, etc. Throw in the maintenance headaches (ALL European cars) and I have to ask myself why I'm buying them. I was pretty serious about buying the 9-5, but after driving the Accord I'm not so sure. It's every bit as well built as either the Saab or the BMW. In terms of handling/performance the difference were negligible, at least from what I could tell without a stop watch and test track. With bullet proof reliablility as frosting on the cake, I have to say that this experience has really rocked my world.
